宋

chapter potential (approx. 1040-1115), courtesy name Jichang, from Quzhou. Northern Song official and poet, active mainly during the Yuanfeng and Shaosheng eras. He had close interactions with Huang Tingjian and was deeply influenced by the Jiangxi poetic style. His poetry is characterized by clear vigor and sharp hardness, with an emphasis on refining word sentences and appropriate use of allusions, making him an important practitioner of Huang Tingjian's "Jiangxi poetic method." Representative works include "Inscribed on the Ta in Zhenzhou Together with Minister Huang." In the transitional period of Song poetry from mid-Northern Song to Southern Song, he reflects the shift of literati from pursuing natural fluency to focusing on formal rules and the depth of allusions. Later generations evaluated him as a key figure in the formation of the Jiangxi School, contributing to the development of formalization and technical sophistication in Song poetry.
